AMD increases the price of some Xilinx products

The changes explained by environmental factors will come into effect at the beginning of next year.

MyDrivers recently published a document in which Victor Peng, the president of the business division that includes Xilinx, which was acquired by AMD, stated that they will be forced to increase the price of certain Xilinx solutions next year, more precisely from January 9.

The company explained the changes with environmental effects, including the effect of the epidemic, tight supply and demand, and rising costs. Looking at the specifics, the Spartan 6 series fares the worst, they will be 25% more expensive next year, but the company tries not to spoil the strategically important Versal series, so the price remains unchanged. The other Xilinx products not mentioned above will become more expensive by 8%.

AMD also expects changes in order turnaround times. The Versal series receives special attention, so the usual duration has to be reckoned with, and in the case of Spartan 6 and older solutions, there will be no change in the year 2023. However, the availability of the UltraScale+, UltraScale, and 7-Series product lines is improving, so the lead time for orders is expected to decrease to 20 weeks in the longer term.

In addition to the above, the company also mentions that the 7-Series solutions will be produced until at least 2035, so they will far exceed the originally announced 15-year life cycle.

Although the content of the letter is not public and official yet, Xilinx’s customers probably actually received it, as rumors about the upcoming price increase have been circulating for the past week and a half, and these are now indirectly confirmed by the leaked material.
